Bare or Nude?

Pantyhose, nylons, stockings,new new era hats tights, in one variation or another they are basically the same things, a covering meant to prevent our legs from being bare in dresses or skirts. For years now,  pantyhose have been on the “outs” with fashion except for the occasional black hose or texture tights that weave their way in and out style over the years.   The one thing you really haven’t seen too much of is the basic nude or sheer pantyhose. One really used to have to search hard for pictures of celebrities wearing them. The bare leg was the “it” look. But that seems to be changing.  Catherine and William’s trip to the States has brought a circus of media attention with it and of course the paparazzi have made sure they’ve captured Kate at every event or outing attended. (I don’t blame them because she is a beautiful young woman who comports herself with such grace and style, it is hard not to want to photograph her.)

The thing everyone is noticing is that no matter what outfit she is wearing, she is wearing nylons. Now, we know they ARE nylons/pantyhose and not stockings because she had an “almost” incident of exposure that shows it isn’t a stocking.

Is this just a protocol of the Palace that the Queen passed on before she left? “Now Catherine, remember to smile, wave with your wrist and wear your pantyhose.” Or is this Kate’s choice and preference?

I wondered if it was maybe a style coming back into fashion in Great Britain as I caught a picture of her sister Pippa with nylons.
